Bad Apples

As we are all aware, Minnesota can get some crazy winters with a lot of snow and ice, but that it is the responsibility of home owners and property managers to take care of the Sidewalks that are Adjacent to the property lines. And as well all know that there are a lot of BAD APPLES out that think they are above the City Ordinance and Guidelines but in place by the City Of Minneapolis each and every year stating that within 24 hour period of the snow fall that sidewalks are to be maintained.  That means cleared of Ice and Snow.

I do not know about you, but I know I have had some crazy falls here in Minneapolis right here in The Whittier.  And because of that I have taken it upon myself to contact Minneapolis 311 to report the Property Owners and Managers who, should we say, "Refuse" to take care of the sidewalks.  There is nothing that the City of Minneapolis can do about the Parking lots of Apartment Complexes that is the sole responsibility  of the owners and managers.

Each time you call and report a Property for the Snow and Ice infractions you are given a number in case the property owner/managers still refused to do anything about their property lines. Below I have compiled a list of such properties so that you can be aware of not only the dangers to avoid but perhaps if you are looking to rent you want to make sure not to rent from Slum Lords who don't care about their properties or the tenants to whom the lease to.

For over 2 weeks I have been communication with Maynard Mohanlall of Pure Property Management and he told me that he was sending a work order to take care of the Sidewalk and the Parking Lot. To this day nothing has been done. I have Filed more than one complaint against this property and informed the City that Mr. Mohanlall has refused to take care of the side and the parking lot. However the City is not permitted to order Pure Property management to take care of the Parking Lot just the Sidewalk.   This Property is owned by True Slum Lords J W ARNOLD & A F ARNOLD. There are at least 10 viable complaints against the property and the owners with the City of Minneapolis. It is rumored that the Arnolds only purchased the property as a tax write off and nothing. However if my name was out side the front door as the property management co. I would care a little more than the Arnolds.

Not much has been found on this property other than it is a set of Condos Stevens CO-OP with a management in St. Paul, MN. I have reached out to them and hopefully now with the new snow fall that they will take care of this property properly not only for the Tenants but the neighbors who share their sidewalk.

The Mexican Mariachi Restaurant may have good food inside but as far as the outside and taking care of their customers to make sure they get in and out of their establishment safely I don't think they really care. I have called numerous times asking them to please take care of the snow and ice and I have been laughed at "Ok, Ok, Yeah whatever". The City has been called on them a number of times but it appears to do little or no good.

This property is most likely a rental but the renters do not take care of it. The owner Paul Jablonsky doesn't take care of the property either. I have tried reaching out to him but it seems all contact information is obsolete. I guess the City will have to take care of it.

Another property who only seems interested in taking care of the sidewalk going up into the Apartment Building and not the Sidewalk in front or even the parking lot.  Which explains the reviews that are on line. Horrible management. Is all I will say.

Yes you read that right, this is a church. You would think that a "Church" would care a little more about their parishioners  to make sure that they get in and out of the church safely. Again a "Church".

This is the Ultimate Slumlord if I have ever seen one. All winter this property has refused to take care of their sidewalks and the ice in front is at thick as 3 inches. The City of Minneapolis Inspector Walter Davis has already inspected the property and yet the City STILL refuses to take care of the side walk.  How many people need to slop and fall and how many people need to get injured before the city does anything about it.  I have already reached out to Mr. Davis at 612-673-3463 and of course no response. If you have had issues with this property or any other call him directly and file a complaint. Of course you will not be able to get a hold of him but leave a message and then call Postman Law office.

I have since contacted Minneapolis 311 because this property has still refused to clear the sidewalk of the ice and the Inspector for the City of Minneapolis has also refused to do anything regarding the ice. If you or anyone you know has been injured on this sidewalk please contact us and let us know. we have to make sure that these business adhere to the laws for everyone's safety while simply walking down the sidewalks in Minneapolis.

Nelsons Service is no different. In the winter not only do they refuse to Clear the sidewalk in front of the property of snow and ice but they also have the arrogance to park their cars on the sidewalk so that you have to walk around their vehicles most of the time you have to walk out into the street to get by. I have reached out to Minneapolis 311 and filed the complaint against their property. I called and spoke with the manager asking him to please move his vehicles and he told me, fuck you I don't have to move anything and I am not going to. This is not the company you should have working on your cars if they don't care about your safety simply walking down the sidewalk in front of their property how can you trust them to work on your car. 

 

Have you been injured by a negligent Landlord, Property Owner. Property Manager?

Have you been injured in a Slip and Fall on the sidewalk of negligent owners and managers due to the Ice and Snow that they refuse to take care of. Well if you have fallen in front of ANY of these properties you have a right to sue. They have been notified by the City of Minneapolis and they know what the Ordinances are regarding Snow and Ice. Its bad enough that the City of Minneapolis Refuses to take care of the sidewalks that are being destroyed by the very trees that they [Minneapolis Parks and Recreations Department] plant. But to have to watch out for careless and lazy individuals only makes the Minnesota Winters all the more treacherous. Be careful out there.

Even if you have been injured on the sidewalks and that property is not listed here. Still give them a call. We can't catch all the Bad-Apples. Also if you know of property owners who have failed to clear ice and snow let us know. We need to make sure its safe out there for everyone. We don't need to be slipping on the ice running from ICE.

Is Minneapolis ADA Compliant when it comes to the sidewalks

Every Year we have to contend with the Ice and Snow on the sidewalks because property owners and business owners are too lazy to cheap or are just slumlords and don't care to remove the Ice and Snow.  The City of Minneapolis is NO different. Everyday I am out walking and the curtains or the curbs are covered in Ice and Snow and it makes it difficult for people to cross the streets not to mention the seniors and handicapped individuals who need the curbs to cross the street. If you or anyone you know has been injured slipping and falling on the curbs get your day in court. The City needs to be held just as responsible as business and property owners.  If you get injured, make sure to to get treatment and then call the Postman Law Office at 612-688-5225

Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC)

Catching the Bus in Minneapolis. Having to climb over snowbanks and Ice to get on the bus? Slipping and Falling getting off the bus?  Where ever there is a bus stop with a Shelter the MTC is responsible for clearing the Ice and Snow completely.  If they fail to do so and you are injured getting on or off the bus you can and should sue for damages. This is the only way that the MTC will learn to take the responsibility for their customers not only while on the bus but getting on and off the bus as well.

If there is no shelter at the bus stop and the snow and Ice is not cleared then the property owner of the adjacent bus stop is responsible for clearing the ice and snow, if they fail to do so  and you are injured on the sidewalk you can sue the business owners as well. Do not feel that you don't deserve to be safe while walking down the sidewalks or boarding the busses.  Again if you are injured contact the Postman Law Office at 612-688-5225 they are waiting for your call.
