Minnesota Winters

As we all know Minnesota Winters can be very harsh and at times a lot of snow and ice cover the streets and sidewalks.  Every year the City of Minneapolis sends out a flyer MINNEAPOLIS SIDEWALK SNOW CLEARING RULES however I find this to be a complete oxymoron. Everyday I go out and about and the city Bridges  and the city parks are not at all cleared of snow and ice. Are the Parks closed during the winter season. No they are not.

Sidewalk Aprons

This morning I was out and about walking my dog and trying to climb the pile of snow that was left by the City Snowplows I almost fell. I could have been seriously injured. Now imagine if I was or if you were a senior citizen or handicapped citizen trying to cross the street Safely at a Handicapped Designated Apron or corner and we had to climb that pile with out walkers or canes . It would not have been pretty.

So I called the Minneapolis 311 and I asked who was responsible for the sidewalks and the aprons. As we all know as home and business owners the sidewalks in front of our property is our responsibility to have the snow and ice removed all the way down to the concrete. But what about the City. Our tax payer dollars and our property taxes are supposed to be paying for city to properly clear the city streets, sidewalks and over overpasses yet everyday I go out and not only do Home owners and Apartment Buildings or Single Family Residences and a lot of them refuse to take care of their property for the tenants much less the public sidewalks in front of their property.

So I have decided to start making these individuals and business prime examples of what not to do and each day when i am out and about I will gather that information take pictures and even call the property owners if the numbers are listed  on site and I will ask them to take care of their sides walks and then I will call Minneapolis 311 and file a complaint and put in an order for the City Inspector to notify and fine he said property owners. If its the City its self I will call the and inform them that they are on notice.

I will then post the pictures of the offending property's and areas so that people know to avoid those areas.

We need to have safe sidewalks for all citizens not just those who drive cars or live in rich neighborhoods but everywhere.

Keep in mind, if you see a property listed here on this page and you have had a "Slip and Fall" accident due to the owners not taking care of the sidewalks you can sue that property owner, and If there is a City of Minneapolis complaint number associated with the offending property and it still is not taking care of you can sue not only the property owner but the City of Minneapolis as well.

Please keep in mind I don't simply call Minneapolis 311 right away I will try to reach out to the property owner and if they refuse to respond or take care of their property or if they are nasty and ignore the requests, I will then call and post their properties information here.
